TV configurations: Preferences

Understand the settings for the interface, TV guide, playback, history and subtitles.

01

Open a configuration’s preferences

In TV configurations, create or edit a configuration, then open Preferences. Expand a section or search for a setting. To apply your changes, save, send and confirm on the TV.

02

  • Dialog style: choose a classic or two-pane layout.
  • Channel, group and programme title text size: adjust each size in the navigation panel, along with its text style and brightness.
  • Base theme: changes the app’s appearance. Focus selector: changes how the item selected with the remote looks.
  • Change Language, Time Format and Date format: set the language and display formats.
  • Show update indicator: makes the update indicator visible in the interface.
  • EPG offset: follow the system or choose an offset suited to the guide. Catch-up offset: follow the TV guide offset or choose a separate value for catch-up.

03

General information: startup and behaviour

  • Startup screen: chooses the page shown when Waveo opens.
  • DNS provider: chooses the service the app uses to resolve addresses. Keep the setting that works on your network.
  • Exit app without confirmation: removes the exit confirmation prompt.
  • Hide new groups added during updates: prevents new groups from appearing automatically in navigation.

05

  • Display All group: adds a view of all content.
  • Hide metadata panel: reduces the information shown with content.
  • Show the New label and its duration: choose whether recent additions are marked and for how long.
  • Release dates on episode cards: shows this information on the cards.
  • Highlight watched content: marks items already watched. The completion threshold sets how much must be watched to count as finished.
  • Animation when a poster is highlighted: choose no animation, poster zoom or card enlargement.

06

TV guide: layout and opening channels

  • The All TV group, two-line channel names and channel numbers: choose the guide’s navigation aids.
  • List mode: choose card size and whether to show only logos. Channel logo priority decides whether Waveo prefers the provider’s logo or the EPG logo.
  • Action buttons above the EPG: always show them, hide them or show them on focus.
  • Short Left press and the Back button: choose how they return to groups or the current programme.
  • Play last channel when TV guide opens: choose Always, Never or On screen change.
  • Channel preview on focus: enable it in the guide, in the player’s EPG panel, in both or neither. Delay before changing channel prevents previews from starting too quickly.
  • Automatic full screen and its delay: set when a preview switches to full screen.
  • My Wave TV: channel click: chooses whether selecting a channel opens it directly in full screen.
  • Default lead time for program reminders: sets how far in advance a programme reminder appears.

07

History and favourites

  • Max favorites in player: limits the favourites shown in the player.
  • Max history items: sets the size of the relevant history list.

11

Playback: picture and sound

  • Auto-framerate for TV and VOD: matches the display refresh rate to the content. Minimum delay before switching: avoids frequent changes.

  • Color dynamic range for TV and VOD: choose Auto, an HDR preference or SDR to suit your display.
  • Display format: keep proportions, fit width or height, stretch or use smart zoom. Stretching can distort the picture.

12

Playback: compatibility options

Use these options to address a playback problem on a TV. If playback works, keep your settings. Otherwise, change one option at a time and test the result on that TV.

  • Audio tunneling: uses a playback mode available on compatible devices.
  • Recreate decoder on channel change: changes how the player restarts a channel.
  • Prefer software audio or video decoding: bypasses hardware decoding, separately for TV and VOD; this may use more resources.
  • Disable HEVC hardware decoders: can work around problems with this format.
  • Strict IDR start: waits for a suitable starting frame before playing video.
  • Disable framerate estimator: turns off automatic estimation of the content’s frame rate.
  • Secure preview ↔ fullscreen transition: a workaround marked Not recommended in the interface; use it only for a transition problem.

13
