9. Organize groups and channels
Create your own groups, choose what remains visible, and apply clear names without changing the original source.
01
9.1 How do I distinguish the two types of group?
- A provider group comes from the playlist. You can locally customize its name, order, visibility, and lock.
- A custom group brings together your own selection of movies, series, or channels already present in WAVEO.
- A custom group can contain only one content type: Movies, Series, or TV.
Custom groups and group management require Premium.
Visibility, renaming, sorting, and detailed channel ordering require paid Premium access; a trial alone is not sufficient.
WAVEO retains the original names and never changes the playlist at your provider.
Hiding or renaming an item does not delete it.
02
9.2 How do I create a custom group?
- 01Open Settings > Group management.
- 02Choose Movies, Series, or TV.
- 03Choose the active playlist or, if this scope is offered, all playlists.
- 04Select Create, enter a short name, and optionally choose a color.
- 05Search for content to add, select it with OK, then save. Once the group has been created, you can also add content from the VOD grid by long-pressing OK.
03
9.3 How do I add or remove several items?
- 01Open the group in the management studio.
- 02Use search, then filter by group or playlist if necessary.
- 03Press OK to add an item; press it again to remove the item.
- 04Use bulk selection only after checking the active filter.
- 05Remove the filter and check the overall count before saving.
A bulk action applies to the results currently visible, which may not be the entire library.
04
9.4 How do I quickly add content from the VOD grid?
- 01Move the focus to a movie, series, or channel.
- 02Long-press OK.
- 03Choose the action related to custom groups.
- 04Select a group of the same type, then confirm the addition or removal.
05
9.5 How do I rename, recolor, or delete a custom group?
- 01Open Settings > Group management.
- 02Select the group to change.
- 03Choose Rename, change the color, or Delete.
- 04Confirm the change.
Deleting a custom group removes only this organization. Movies, series, and channels remain in their original playlists and groups.
06
9.6 How do I rename or reorder provider groups?
- 01Open Settings > Group management.
- 02Choose Movies, Series, or TV, then the relevant playlist.
- 03To move a group, select it with OK, use Up or Down, then confirm with OK.
- 04To rename it, long-press it, enter the new name, and confirm.
- 05Use A–Z, Z–A, or Restore source order only if you want to replace the current custom order.
Restoring the name or order removes only the local customization and returns to the value received from the playlist.
07
9.7 How do I hide, show, or lock a group?
- 01Open Settings > Group visibility.
- 02Choose the content type and playlist.
- 03Enable or disable each group's visibility.
- 04To manage locks, create the PIN if WAVEO asks, choose Unlock parental control, then enter that PIN.
- 05Then long-press the group you want to lock or unlock.
This is reversible: return to Group visibility and enable at least one group.
A hidden group may also be excluded from search and recommendations, depending on your preferences.
To review every new group before it appears, open Settings > Playlists & update > Options, then enable Hide new groups added during updates.
08
9.8 How do I hide, rename, or reorder channels?
Detailed channel management does not accept a Premium trial. Check that valid paid access is active before you begin.
- 01Open Settings > TV channel management.
- 02Choose the playlist and TV group.
- 03Toggle a channel's visibility or use global actions with care.
- 04Open its contextual menu to rename it.
- 05Enable reorder mode, move the channel, then save with OK.
Renaming a channel changes neither its stream nor its EPG assignment. Correct the EPG assignment separately if programs are missing or incorrect.
09
9.9 How do I apply a naming rule in bulk?
- 01From group or channel management, open Naming rules.
- 02Choose the target, content type, and scope: group, playlist, or all playlists, depending on the screen.
- 03Choose the action: add or remove a prefix or suffix, replace text, change letter case, convert a country to a flag, or apply smart cleanup.
- 04Keep protection against empty names enabled and, if necessary, configure Ignore case.
- 05Review the preview: affected, excluded, empty, and duplicate items.
- 06Exclude ambiguous cases, then apply only valid results.
Rules do not provide a complete undo history. Applying a rule to channels requires paid Premium access.
10
9.10 How do I restore or transfer my customizations?
- For a single item, use Restore name or Restore source order.
- For several items, use global restore only after checking its scope.
- To change devices, create a complete manual backup before migrating.
Cloud Sync does not transfer custom groups, renamed items, or custom orders. A manual backup is the appropriate mechanism for this data.
11
9.11 I have a problem: a group has disappeared or appears empty
- 01Check the profile, playlist, and Movies, Series, or TV type.
- 02Open Group visibility and enable the group again for testing.
- 03In a custom group, remove filters and the mode that displays selected items only.
- 04Check that the content still exists after the latest update.
- 05If the group is locked, enter the PIN; if necessary, restart WAVEO to restore the prompt.
12
9.12 I have a problem: a name or order is not retained
- Check that you are changing the correct playlist and copy of the content.
- In move mode, confirm with OK; Back generally cancels the new order.
- Do not apply an alphabetical sort immediately after setting a manual order.
- After a major update, check whether the provider changed item IDs.
- If a rule creates duplicates, reduce its scope or exclude ambiguous cases.
- If the EPG still displays an old label, check its assignment: the program or EPG source name may differ from the channel's local name.
