10. Use the Movies and Series player
Start a video, choose its tracks, configure subtitles, and quickly identify a playback problem.
01
10.1 How do I start or resume a video?
- 01Open a movie or series details page.
- 02Choose Play, Resume, or a specific episode.
- 03During playback, briefly press OK or Down to display the controls.
- 04Use Back to hide the controls, then press it again to leave the player after progress has been saved.
The player needs a profile, a playlist, identifiable content, and a URL that is still valid. WAVEO cannot make a file playable if it has been removed, is protected, or is incompatible with the device.
02
10.2 How do I pause, seek, or restart?
- Display the controls to use play, pause, rewind, fast-forward, restart, and the progress bar.
- With the default button mapping and controls hidden, a long press on Left or Right rewinds or fast-forwards; a long press on OK pauses or resumes.
- To correct a stretched image, open the aspect ratio option and choose Fit (preserve ratio).
- Shortcuts may differ if you have customized the remote control.
03
10.3 How do I choose an audio track or correct the sound?
- 01Display the controls and open the Audio icon.
- 02Choose the desired language or track from those actually present in the file.
- 03If the sound is ahead or behind, open Advanced settings > Audio delay.
- 04Adjust in small increments, listen for several seconds, then reset to 0 ms if the result gets worse.
Internal delay adjustment may be unavailable when passthrough sends audio directly to your TV or amplifier. Temporarily disable passthrough for the test.
04
10.4 How do I enable an embedded subtitle track?
- 01Display the controls and open the Subtitles icon, or long-press Up with the default button mapping.
- 02Choose a track by language and label, or None to disable subtitles.
- 03Check the Forced or SDH indicators if several variants exist.
- 04Return to the video: WAVEO remembers the choice when the content can be identified.
If only None appears, the file probably contains no compatible track. WAVEO cannot create a track that is not present.
05
10.5 How do I adjust subtitle appearance or synchronization?
- In the Subtitles dialog, open Appearance to choose the size, font, background, and color.
- Use Position to cycle through bottom, top, or center positions.
- Use Delay to advance or delay the track in 500 ms increments, then test it on a recognizable line.
- Appearance and position are global; the delay is remembered per item when possible.
If the delay changes during the movie, choose another track. A fixed adjustment cannot correct a file intended for a different edition.
06
10.6 How do I search for subtitles with OpenSubtitles?
OpenSubtitles requires Premium, Internet access, an opensubtitles.com account, an available quota, and an identifiable movie or episode. The feature may be absent if the integration is not configured in the installed version.
- 01Open Settings > Preferences > OpenSubtitles.
- 02Enable the service, enter your opensubtitles.com account credentials, and sign in.
- 03Choose your preferred language and check the displayed account status or quota.
- 04Return to the player and open Subtitles.
- 05Choose an automatic suggestion or More subtitles, then select the file that matches your edition.
Never share your OpenSubtitles password in a screenshot or with your IPTV provider.
07
10.7 I have a problem with OpenSubtitles
- Login rejected: use an opensubtitles.com account and check what you entered.
- No results: change language and check that the content has a TMDB or IMDb ID.
- Quota exhausted: wait for it to reset or check the account status.
- Track badly out of sync: first try another edition before changing the delay.
- Service unavailable: try again later; WAVEO controls neither quotas nor availability of the external service.
08
10.8 How do I automatically move to the next episode?
- 01During an episode, display the controls, then open Advanced settings.
- 02Enable Autoplay.
- 03Use the Previous episode or Next episode buttons to switch immediately when they are available.
- 04To change the autoplay threshold, open Preferences and choose 95, 98, 99, or 100%.
Autoplay is a standard feature. Customizing its threshold requires Premium.
Autoplay is not possible if the next episode is missing, incorrectly structured, or has no valid URL.
09
10.9 How do I skip an introduction or credits with IntroDB?
- 01When WAVEO displays a temporary action, choose to skip the recap or introduction, or to move to the next episode.
IntroDB requires Premium, an identifiable series, and a segment supplied by the external service. If the button is absent for an episode, this is not a fault: not every series and edition is covered.
10
10.10 How do I open information or episodes without leaving the video?
With the controls hidden and default button mapping, Left opens content information and Right opens related content or the seasons and episodes.
- Choosing other content saves the current progress before starting the new item.
- Back first closes the panel and keeps playback running.
- To use an installed app, choose Open with from a contextual action. Selecting a default external player requires Premium.
- An external player may not correctly report progress or watched status to WAVEO.
11
10.11 How do I adjust the player without making a problem worse?
- Start by keeping 1× speed, the Automatic buffer, and hardware decoders.
- Use Large or Very large only if the server responds intermittently; a large buffer does not create bandwidth.
- Disable passthrough if the sound disappears, then test software audio decoding.
- Disable automatic resolution or Auto Framerate if the picture does not return after a mode change.
- Test software video decoding only for a black screen or a poorly supported codec; it places a heavy load on the device.
Some changes rebuild the player. Note the original value and test only one setting before continuing.
12
10.12 How do I collect useful diagnostic information?
- 01Display the controls, open Advanced settings, then Technical information.
- 02Note the codec, resolution, frame rate, HDR, bitrate, audio format, passthrough, and delay.
- 03Compare the same content with passthrough disabled, automatic settings, and, as a last resort, an external player.
- 04Tell support the device model, Android version, WAVEO version, and the results of these tests.
The technical screen may display a URL containing your IPTV credentials. Never publish it, and hide it in every screenshot.
13
10.13 I have a problem: the video loads, stutters, or stays black
- 01Test another movie or episode from the same playlist.
- 02Check the Internet connection, source expiration, and the provider's connection limit.
- 03Return to the Automatic buffer, 1× speed, and hardware decoders.
- 04For a black screen with sound, disable automatic resolution and Auto Framerate, then briefly test software video decoding.
- 05For a picture without sound, change tracks, disable passthrough, and test software audio decoding.
- 06Try an external player to distinguish a stream problem from a built-in player problem.
Do not clear WAVEO data or uninstall the app before creating a backup. These actions delete profiles and progress without repairing a failing source.
14
10.14 I have a problem: resume or Picture-in-Picture does not work
- Incorrect resume position: check the profile, playlist, and copy of the content, then see whether Trakt or another device applied a more recent state.
- No resume after using an external player: the external player is not required to report the position to WAVEO.
- PiP missing: check for Android 8 or later, the system permission, and the absence of an open panel or error.
- To trigger PiP, leave the video active and press Home, not Back.
