11. Watch TV, set reminders, and record programs
Use the player and its integrated guide, schedule a reminder or recording, then diagnose common problems.
01
11.1 How do I move from the guide to full screen?
- 01In TV, move the focus to a channel or its current program.
- 02Press OK once to start the preview.
- 03Wait for the picture and sound.
- 04Press OK again on the active channel to open full screen.
- 05In full screen, press OK to display the controls and Back to return to the guide.
Use its contextual menu to display details, create a reminder, or schedule a recording.
02
11.2 How do I use the integrated guide without leaving the player?
- 01Display the controls and open the EPG browser.
- 02Choose the playlist, group, channel, then program in sequence.
- 03Select a channel to start it while keeping the panel open.
- 04Select the active channel again or use Back to close the panel.
The integrated EPG panel is a standard feature. Its content nevertheless depends on the programs actually supplied and assigned to the channel.
03
11.3 How do I watch live TV, restart, or launch catch-up?
- Current program: select it to watch live TV.
- Archived current program: open the controls and choose Restart.
- Past program: choose it in the guide or program list, then start catch-up if the action is offered.
- Timeshift-compatible stream: display the controls, use Pause, then use rewind or fast-forward to move through the retained portion of the live stream.
- During catch-up or timeshift, use Return to live to return to the real-time stream.
WAVEO does not create any archives. The provider must offer catch-up, the EPG must be correct, and the period must still be retained.
If the guide is correct but the archive begins too early or too late, the separate catch-up offset setting requires Premium.
04
11.4 How do I change channel, quality, or track?
- With the controls hidden, Up and Down normally change channel within the group.
- Open Quality to choose a variant actually offered by the provider.
- Open Audio or Subtitles to choose a track included in the stream.
- Use the aspect ratio option to preserve the ratio or fill more of the screen.
- With the default button mapping, a long press on Left returns to the previous channel.
- To keep the time visible, open the player options, enable the permanent clock, then adjust its position, size, and opacity.
A single quality or track generally means that the stream does not expose another one. OpenSubtitles does not provide live transcription for channels.
05
11.5 How do I find my favorite or recent channels?
- 01Display the controls.
- 02Open Favorites or History when the button is available.
- 03Choose a channel to start it.
- 04To add the active channel to or remove it from favorites, use the visible action or the Yellow button with the default mapping.
Favorites, history, and their dedicated surfaces are subject to the Premium access provided by the installed version. They remain linked to the profile and playlist.
06
11.6 How do I create and manage a reminder?
- 01In the guide, move the focus to a future program.
- 02Long-press it and choose Set reminder.
- 03Confirm; the lead time can be set to 1, 3, 5, 10, or 15 minutes in Preferences.
- 04Then view your reminders in My Wave TV > Reminders.
- 05When the window appears, choose Watch, Snooze, or Ignore.
WAVEO uses Android notifications and scheduling to signal a reminder even when the app is not visible. Allow notifications and exact alarms if Android asks.
Do not force-stop WAVEO, and avoid overly aggressive battery restrictions. The playlist, channel, and program must still exist at the scheduled time.
07
11.7 I have a problem: the reminder does not appear
- Check the device's time, date, and time zone.
- Allow notifications and, if Android asks, exact alarms.
- Avoid an overly aggressive power-saving mode.
- Check that the program, playlist, and channel still exist.
- Check that WAVEO was not force-stopped or blocked in the background.
08
11.8 How do I schedule or start a recording?
- 01From the EPG, open a program's actions and choose Record.
- 02For a future program, check the time, margins before and after, and the destination.
- 03For a current program, confirm immediate recording or correct the end time.
- 04For a free-form schedule, open My Wave TV > Recordings > Create, then choose the playlist, group, channel, title, times, and destination.
- 05Save the schedule.
Recording depends on a recordable stream, storage, Android permissions, the network, and the number of connections allowed by the provider.
09
11.9 How do I record to local storage or USB?
- 01For the destination, choose the app folder, Downloads, or a system folder.
- 02For a local or USB folder, open the Android picker and grant the requested access.
- 03Check that the storage device is connected, writable, and has enough free space.
- 04Make a short test recording before scheduling important content.
A disconnected USB device, revoked permission, or restoration on another device may make the destination inaccessible.
10
11.10 How do I record to an SMB share?
- 01Choose SMB as the destination.
- 02Enter the server address, share or path, username, and password.
- 03Check that the TV and server can communicate on the local network.
- 04Save, then perform a short test.
- 05To play a completed SMB recording, use a compatible external player.
A change to the IP address, password, or write permissions will cause the destination to fail. Do not share SMB credentials in a screenshot.
11
11.11 How do I view, edit, or delete my recordings?
- Open My Wave TV > Recordings and choose Scheduled, In progress, or Completed.
- A scheduled recording can be changed or canceled.
- An active recording can be watched or stopped, but its start time can no longer be changed.
- A completed recording can be played, opened in an external player, or deleted, depending on its destination.
Read the confirmation to determine whether the action removes only the entry, the video file, or both.
A WAVEO backup retains the recording reference, never the video file. Copy important videos separately.
12
11.12 How do I use multi-screen?
Its presence depends on the distributed version. Its operation also depends on device performance, the network, and the simultaneous connections allowed by your provider.
- 01Display the controls and choose Multi-screen if the action is available.
- 02Select a tile, then choose a playlist, group, and channel.
- 03Repeat to add up to four streams.
- 04Move the focus to choose the tile that plays audio.
- 05Long-press a tile to replace it, remove it, or open it in full screen.
Catch-up is not available in the tiles. Several streams may exceed the number of IPTV connections or available decoders and cause interruptions.
PiP is disabled during multi-screen.
13
11.13 How do I adjust the TV player without creating new problems?
- Keep HDR on Auto, the buffer on Automatic, and hardware decoders enabled until a specific problem is identified.
- Disable passthrough if sound disappears; internal audio delay may be unavailable while it is active.
- Disable Auto Framerate if the screen does not return after switching; this feature depends on Android 11 or later and the TV.
- Test HLS, then TS only if a provider requires it or live TV fails in one format.
- Use software decoding as a compatibility test because it places a heavy load on the device.
The User-Agent, TS/HLS selection in certain flows, and custom TV buffer may require Premium. An incorrect value can block a stream that previously worked.
14
11.14 How do I prepare useful diagnostics?
- 01Open the player's technical information.
- 02Note the channel, playlist, time, codec, resolution, frame rate, HDR, and audio output.
- 03Note the TS/HLS, buffer, Auto Framerate, and passthrough settings.
- 04Test the channel with automatic settings, then with only one change at a time.
- 05Compare it with another channel and, if possible, an external player.
Never send a stream URL containing your IPTV credentials.
15
11.15 How do I use PiP or an external player?
- PiP: on a compatible device running Android 8 or later, close the panels, then press Home during playback.
- External player: long-press a channel, choose Open with, then select the app.
- Use an external player primarily to test stream compatibility.
In an external player, WAVEO no longer controls its integrated EPG, return to live, internal settings, reminders, or error recovery.
16
11.16 I have a problem: live TV, sound, or catch-up does not work
- Black screen with sound: return to HDR Auto, disable Auto Framerate, and briefly test software video decoding.
- Picture without sound: change tracks, disable passthrough, and test software audio decoding.
- Buffering: try a lower quality, return to the Automatic buffer, test Ethernet, and stop multi-screen.
- Interruption when changing channel: check the connection limit and test recreating the decoder.
- Catch-up missing: check that the program has finished, was archived, and is still within the retained period.
- Catch-up offset: first correct the time and EPG; change the catch-up offset only if the guide is already correct.
17
11.17 I have a problem: a recording failed or disappeared
- 01Open My Wave TV > Recordings and check its status.
- 02Check the time, notifications, exact alarms, and battery restrictions.
- 03Start the channel manually and check the connection limit.
- 04Check the available space, write permissions, and presence of the USB device or SMB share.
- 05Avoid playback or multi-screen already using all available connections.
- 06Make a short manual recording to the same destination.
A device that was off, an unavailable stream, or an inaccessible destination during the program cannot be corrected after it ends.
