12. Manage profiles and playlists
Separate household use, protect a profile, and precisely choose the active source before making any changes.
01
12.1 What is the difference between a profile, a playlist, and Premium access?
- A WAVEO profile separates playlists, favorites, history, progress, reminders, and certain content preferences for members of the household.
- A playlist belongs to a profile and provides that provider's channels, movies, series, and EPG data.
- A Premium code unlocks WAVEO features on the device.
- The IPTV account grants access to the provider's content.
A Premium code never replaces an M3U URL or Xtream credentials. Check an IPTV error with the source provider.
02
12.2 How do I create a profile?
- 01Open the profile selector from the avatar displayed in the app.
- 02Choose Add profile.
- 03Enter a non-empty name and choose an avatar.
- 04Save the profile.
- 05Add at least one playlist intended for this profile.
Creating, editing, and activating a profile does not require Premium. No small fixed public limit on profiles is announced; storage and catalog sizes remain the practical limits.
03
12.3 How do I activate or edit a profile?
- 01Open the profile selector.
- 02Select the desired profile and confirm.
- 03Choose its active playlist if it owns several sources.
- 04To rename it or change its avatar, return to profile management, then choose Edit.
Changing profiles loads that profile's own context. Other profiles' data is not deleted; it simply stops being displayed.
04
12.4 How do I choose the profile and startup screen?
- 01Open Settings > Preferences > Interface.
- 02Choose Screen displayed at startup.
- 03Select Profile selection screen to choose a profile every time the app opens.
- 04To open an area directly, choose TV, guide, Movies, Series, or another offered destination instead.
The Profile selection screen at startup option requires Premium.
05
12.5 How do I protect a profile, group, or Settings with a PIN?
- 01Activate the relevant profile.
- 02Open Settings > Preferences > Security.
- 03Create the requested PIN and confirm it.
- 04Choose the profiles to lock and enable Settings protection if necessary.
- 05To protect a group, open Settings > Group visibility, choose the type and playlist, unlock parental control with the PIN, then long-press the group.
- 06Leave the protected area, open it again, and check its behavior.
The PIN requires Premium. It protects the WAVEO interface, but does not encrypt playlists, backups, or video files and does not replace the web account password.
The same parental PIN is used for the configured protections; each group does not have a different code.
06
12.6 How do I add a playlist to the correct profile?
- 01First activate the profile that should own the source.
- 02Open Settings > Playlists & update > Manage playlists.
- 03Choose Add a playlist.
- 04Select Xtream, M3U, QR code, or, if available and eligible, Cloud Sync.
- 05Complete the import and check that the playlist appears under the correct profile.
Playlists belong to the profile in which they were added. Adding one to another profile requires a new import in that profile.
07
12.7 How do I activate or reorder a playlist?
- 01Open Manage playlists in the active profile.
- 02Select the desired playlist and choose Activate.
- 03Wait for the screens to reload.
- 04Use Move up or Move down to change its order in selectors.
The active playlist is the main context. Screens configured in multi-playlist mode can nevertheless display several sources. Changing playlists never changes profiles.
08
12.8 How do I correct a playlist's name or connection?
- 01In Manage playlists, select the source, then Edit.
- 02Correct its name, server or M3U address, Xtream credentials, or available EPG URL.
- 03Save the changes.
- 04Return to Settings > Playlists & update and start a manual update.
- 05Then test a known channel and VOD item.
For a genuinely different source, add a new playlist. Reusing an old entry may break links with existing favorites, progress, and assignments.
09
12.9 How do I delete a playlist without unpleasant surprises?
- 01Create a manual backup if you may need to return to the current state.
- 02Separately copy the recorded video files you want to retain.
- 03Open Manage playlists, select the playlist, then Delete.
- 04Read the consequences and confirm only after checking the profile and source name.
- 05Allow the operation to finish without force-stopping WAVEO.
Deletion removes the local catalog and any favorites, history, progress, EPG assignments, and customizations that depend on this playlist.
If it is the profile's only playlist, WAVEO returns to the add-source flow. Restoring a backup replaces the current state; it does not merge data.
10
12.10 How do I delete a profile?
- 01Create a manual backup before any significant deletion.
- 02Activate another profile: the active profile cannot be deleted.
- 03Return to profile management.
- 04Select the now-inactive profile, choose Delete, and confirm.
Deletion removes its playlists, catalogs, favorites, history, progress, reminders, custom groups, and dependent assignments.
It does not cancel the IPTV account or Premium code.
11
12.11 How do I know where data is saved?
- Profile: playlists, active playlist, favorites, history, progress, reminders, custom groups, Sports tracking, and Trakt connection.
- Playlist and content: catalog, EPG, assignments, names, visibility, and data linked to a specific ID.
- Device: theme, player, buffer, remote-control shortcuts, and many general settings.
- Remote service: Premium, Cloud Sync, Trakt, and OpenSubtitles each use their own account and scope.
Cloud Sync transfers a playlist and the selected compatible categories. It does not transfer the profile, PIN, custom groups, renamed items, orders, reminders, or player settings.
A manual backup captures the installation, but excludes Premium entitlement and recorded video files.
12
12.12 I have a problem: my favorites or content seem to have disappeared
- 01Open the selector and check the active profile.
- 02In that profile, check the active playlist and whether the screen uses active-playlist or multi-playlist mode.
- 03Make sure the relevant groups are not hidden.
- 04Check whether the latest update removed or replaced the provider credentials.
- 05If you used Cloud Sync, check the selected categories; groups and advanced customizations are not synchronized.
13
12.13 I have a problem: the playlist is present but no longer works
- Check the address, protocol, port, username, and password without adding spaces.
- For an Xtream source, use Settings > Connection test to check authentication and expiration.
- Start a manual update and review its report.
- If import works but playback does not, test several items and check the number of allowed connections.
- Do not replace http with https, or the reverse, unless instructed by the provider.
14
12.14 I have a problem: the PIN is rejected or forgotten
- Make sure you are entering the WAVEO PIN, not the Premium code or IPTV password.
- Restart WAVEO if a section appears to remain in an inconsistent session state.
- If you have forgotten it, first check whether a usable backup exists and consult support for the installed version.
There is no universal PIN recovery procedure. Clearing Android data or uninstalling WAVEO may delete every profile and playlist.
