14. Premium, web account, cloud, and backups

Activate Premium, manage your devices, and choose the right method to transfer or protect your data.

01

14.1 What does Premium unlock?

  • The My Wave TV and My Wave VOD areas, favorites, history, and the relevant progress tools.
  • Custom groups, certain profile and menu customizations, and remote-control shortcuts.
  • Advanced player panels and settings, OpenSubtitles, and IntroDB when available.
  • Trakt, Cloud Sync, backups, and restore, subject to the displayed eligibility.
What Premium does not provide

Premium does not include any channel, playlist, VOD, EPG data, or catch-up guarantee. It does not extend your access with the provider.

Certain features require paid Premium access, a compatible device, an external service, or a version in which the integration is enabled. A trial may therefore be insufficient.

02

14.2 How do I activate Premium on this device?

  1. 01Open Settings > Premium code.
  2. 02Scan the QR code displayed in WAVEO or open the indicated waveo.tv address from a trusted device.
  3. 03Sign in to the correct web account, then purchase or select an available code.
  4. 04In WAVEO, enter the 12-character Premium code exactly as displayed.
  5. 05Confirm and wait for the device confirmation.
  6. 06Open the desired feature again to check that it is unlocked.
Three different codes

The 12-character Premium code activates app entitlements. The Cloud Sync code temporarily links two devices. A QR code or remote-activation MAC address is used to send a playlist.

None of these codes replaces your M3U or Xtream credentials.

03

14.3 How do I manage or remove a Premium device?

  1. 01To remove entitlement from the current device, open Settings > Premium code > Revoke this device, then confirm.
  2. 02To manage another device or free a slot when the quota is full, open your WAVEO account on waveo.tv or through the offered Companion flow.
  3. 03Select the relevant Premium code.
  4. 04View the devices and the number of slots allowed by the displayed plan.
  5. 05Rename a device to identify it easily, or remove one you no longer use.
  6. 06On the relevant TV, open Settings > Premium code again to check its status.
Removing a device

Revocation removes its Premium entitlement. It does not automatically delete profiles, playlists, or files already stored locally on that device.

04

14.4 I have a problem with my code or device

  • Format rejected: check all 12 characters, confusion between letters and numbers, and added spaces.
  • Code expired, already used, or linked to another account: check its status in the WAVEO account.
  • No slot available: remove an old device or change the plan from the account.
  • Device not recognized after activation: check the Internet connection, restart WAVEO, then open Settings > Premium code again.
  • Too many attempts: wait before trying again and use only the code that is still active.
  • Feature still locked: check whether it requires paid Premium access, an external service, or a compatible version.
Never publish an active code

A Premium or Cloud code that is still valid must not appear in any screenshot, video, or public request.

05

14.5 How do I customize My Wave?

  1. 01Open Settings > My Wave settings.
  2. 02Choose which Movies and Series sections to display and change their order.
  3. 03Choose the order and visibility of the My Wave TV tabs: Favorites, History, Reminders, Recordings, and Sports when available.
  4. 04Configure the banner, its content, rotation, and pause on focus according to the visible options.
  5. 05Return to My Wave and refresh the page to check the result.
My Wave and the Android TV home screen

On a compatible launcher, WAVEO can automatically publish recent, favorite, or resumable items on the Android TV home screen. WAVEO does not provide a public button for enabling or disabling this publication.

The waveo.tv web account is separate from the app's My Wave TV and My Wave VOD areas.

06

14.6 What does Cloud Sync transfer?

  • Always: the linked playlist configuration, its primary EPG URL, and its configured EPG sources.
  • Optional: compatible favorites.
  • Optional, within the same category: compatible history and progress.
  • After linking: compatible changes are grouped and sent automatically; manually downloading the remote state remains possible.
What the cloud does not transfer

Profiles, PINs, general preferences, already-downloaded EPG programs, manual EPG assignments, custom groups, renamed items, orders, reminders, recordings, and physical files remain excluded.

Sports tracking, remote-control mappings, Premium entitlement, and third-party service credentials are not transferred.

07

14.7 How do I share a playlist with another device?

Premium must be active on both devices. Connect the Google account when WAVEO asks on a device using Google Play; on Fire TV or a device without Google Play, activate the Premium code first. Also create or select the destination profile.

  1. 01On the source device, open Settings > Cloud Sync > Share this device.
  2. 02Choose the playlist to share.
  3. 03Choose whether favorites, then history and progress, should accompany the playlist.
  4. 04Generate the Cloud code and keep this screen open.
  5. 05On the destination device, activate the profile that will receive the playlist, then choose import by Cloud code in the wizard or add-playlist flow.
  6. 06Enter the code within 10 minutes and confirm the import.
  7. 07Then refresh the playlist and EPG, and check the transferred data.
Temporary, sensitive code

The Cloud code can be used only once and by one receiving device. It may transfer the playlist's connection details; give it only to an authorized person.

09

14.9 I have a problem with the cloud or Trakt

  • Code invalid, expired, or already used: generate a new code on the source device.
  • Premium required: check access on both devices and the Google account when the device uses Google Play.
  • Authentication rejected: check the selected account and requested permissions.
  • Data missing: check the shared categories, imported playlist, and mappings that are still valid in the catalog.
  • EPG empty after import: refresh the sources, because the downloaded grid and manual assignments are not transferred.
  • With Trakt active on the destination profile, Trakt remains the reference for VOD favorites, history, and progress; the corresponding Cloud VOD categories may be ignored.
Assign the roles clearly

Use Trakt for movie and series activity, and Cloud Sync for the playlist, configured EPG sources, and compatible TV data.

10

14.10 How do I create a local backup?

  1. 01Open Settings > Preferences > Backup & restore.
  2. 02Check that Premium is active, then choose Back up now.
  3. 03Grant storage access if Android asks.
  4. 04Wait for confirmation, then find the archive named wave_backup_…zip in Downloads.
  5. 05Copy it to safe storage if you are preparing to reinstall or change devices.
Sensitive file

The encrypted backup contains the local database and preferences required for restoration. Do not publish it or send it to an unauthorized person.

It does not include Premium entitlement or physical recording files.

11

14.11 How do I restore a backup?

  1. 01Create a backup of the current state before any restoration.
  2. 02Open Settings > Preferences > Backup & restore, then choose Restore.
  3. 03Select the WAVEO archive with the Android document picker.
  4. 04Read the warning and confirm the replacement.
  5. 05Allow WAVEO to finish the operation and restart.
  6. 06Check the profiles, playlists, settings, and recording destinations.
  7. 07Reconnect Google, Trakt, or OpenSubtitles if their permissions are no longer valid.
Restore by replacement

Restoration does not merge two configurations. It replaces local data with the archive's data.

An Android permission, external token, or storage path from another device may need to be configured again.

12

14.12 Which method should I use when changing devices?

  • You want only the playlist and a few compatible usage categories: use Cloud Sync.
  • You want to restore the broadest possible local configuration: create a backup and restore it.
  • You want only to recover the VOD activity shared with a third-party service: reconnect the correct Trakt profile.
  • You are changing only the Premium entitlement: activate the new device with the appropriate account and code.
  • You need to retain recording files: copy them separately and reconfigure their destination.
Final check

Before erasing the old device, open the new profile, test the playlist, refresh the EPG, start a video, and check the essential data.
