15. Solve a problem
Identify the cause without losing data, then perform the checks appropriate to the symptom.
- 01Determine whether the problem affects one item, one playlist, one profile, or the entire app.
- 02Test content that you know is normally available.
- 03Check the Internet connection, date, time, available space, active profile, and active playlist.
- 04Restart WAVEO, then the device if necessary.
- 05Next, change only one setting at a time and repeat exactly the same test.
Do not uninstall WAVEO or clear its data as your first attempt. Create a backup before restoration, significant deletion, or reinstallation.
- Xtream: check the protocol, port, username, password, expiration, and connection limit.
- M3U: use the complete direct URL with all of its parameters; a web page or sign-in page is not a playlist.
- QR code: keep the screen open, check the Internet connection on both devices, and generate a new code if it has expired.
- Remote activation: copy the displayed ID and use only the address indicated by WAVEO.
- Backup: place the file in a folder accessible to the Android document picker.
- If the same access details fail on several devices, ask the provider to check them.
- 01Wait for the import and image processing to finish.
- 02Open Settings > Playlists & update and refresh the relevant category.
- 03Check that this content type was not deleted or disabled to save storage.
- 04Check hidden groups, the profile, playlist, and active filters.
- 05Compare the result with the catalog actually supplied to your credentials.
WAVEO does not invent content missing from the source. A successful import may therefore display zero movies, series, or channels in a category.
- 01Test several channels, then a movie or episode if the source contains any.
- 02Open Settings > Connection test for an Xtream playlist.
- 03Check the expiration date and the allowed number of active connections.
- 04Restart the router and device, then test without a VPN or network filter if you use one.
- 05Try the player's automatic settings, then compare with a compatible external player.
It primarily checks the network, server, and authentication. It does not guarantee that every stream works.
- Refresh the category, then test the item again.
- Try another quality or another available copy in your playlists.
- View the technical information to identify a particular codec or format.
- Compare with an external player without changing the entire configuration.
- If every other item works, report the affected URL or item to the provider without publishing it.
- 01Check the device's date, time, and time zone.
- 02Check the XMLTV URL and active EPG sources, then start an update.
- 03If every channel has the same discrepancy, correct the global EPG offset.
- 04If only some channels are empty, use their manual EPG assignment.
- 05Check EPG source priority and refresh after each change.
An EPG source may load correctly without matching a channel's name or tvg-id. Manual assignment corrects this second problem.
- Check that the provider actually offers an archive for this channel and period.
- The catch-up icon is an indication based on received data, not an absolute guarantee.
- Test another past program on the same channel.
- If the guide is correct but catch-up starts too early or too late, adjust the catch-up offset, not the EPG offset.
- Check EPG retention: a program no longer present in the guide may become difficult to select.
- 01Choose another audio track if several tracks exist.
- 02Temporarily disable passthrough and test with automatic decoding.
- 03Enable software audio decoding only for comparison.
- 04Adjust the audio delay if the sound is ahead or behind.
- 05Check the formats supported by the TV, soundbar, or amplifier.
When the audio stream is sent directly to the equipment, WAVEO may no longer be able to apply audio delay.
- Test a lower quality and reduce simultaneous connections.
- Return to automatic buffer and decoder settings before any advanced adjustment.
- Compare hardware, then software decoding if the device appears incompatible with the codec.
- A very brief black screen at startup may be normal when AFR changes the display refresh rate.
- Temporarily disable AFR, HDR, or tunneling to isolate the relevant setting.
- A problem that occurs only at busy times may come from the server or network.
- Open the track list and choose the correct language, including a Forced or SDH track if necessary.
- Correct the delay from the player; it is remembered for the relevant content.
- For OpenSubtitles, check the account, quota, language, and the content's TMDB or IMDb IDs.
- Choose another result if the text matches a different edition or video duration.
- If no track exists and OpenSubtitles returns nothing, WAVEO cannot create subtitles.
- 01Check that the remote has a microphone Android can use.
- 02Grant WAVEO Microphone permission.
- 03Check the voice-recognition service and device language.
- 04Say a short query in a quiet environment.
- 05Use text search if the hardware or voice service is unavailable.
- 01Check the active profile and playlist.
- 02Check the One playlist or All playlists scope and hidden groups.
- 03Check Trakt and Cloud Sync if those services are active.
- 04Open profile management to confirm that the profile still exists.
- 05Restore a backup only after checking its date and creating a copy of the current state.
Favorites, history, progress, groups, and Trakt accounts may depend on the profile, playlist, and active service.
- My Wave: check Premium, visible sections, playlist scope, hidden groups, and TMDB availability.
- Unavailable badge: the external title has not yet been matched with a local version in your playlists.
- Sports missing: the feature may not be enabled in the version; reinstalling will not add it.
- Events without a channel: check playlists, sports, period, data source, and local names.
- Trakt: check the profile, authorized account, Internet connection, initial import, and matches with local versions.
- An unavailable external service can reduce these sections without preventing playback of content already imported.
- Reminder: check the time, notifications, exact alarms, sleep state, and that the program still exists.
- Recording: check the stream, margins, available space, permissions, and connection limit.
- USB: reconnect the storage device and grant access to the folder again.
- SMB: check the address, share, credentials, write permission, and NAS availability.
- WAVEO closed or device in deep sleep: Android may prevent the scheduled action.
- In My Wave TV > Recordings, distinguish the tracking entry from the physical file before deleting anything.
- 01Free space, starting with the cache and smart cleanup.
- 02Restart the device and close unnecessary apps.
- 03Check Settings > App version and use only an official APK.
- 04If Android rejects the update, check the package, version, and signature; do not uninstall to bypass a signature error.
- 05If WAVEO always closes in the same place, note the action, profile, playlist, and content that trigger the problem.
- 06Create a backup before any Android operation on the app's data.
- The device model, its Android version, and the WAVEO version.
- The relevant profile and playlist type, without sending credentials.
- The exact symptom, approximate time, and steps that reproduce it.
- The result for known test content and the settings already tried.
- The update report or player diagnostics, after hiding sensitive data.
- Specify whether the problem comes from WAVEO, the provider, network, device, or an external service when you have been able to isolate it.
Hide M3U URLs, usernames, passwords, Premium or Cloud codes, tokens, private network addresses, and backup files.
An unencrypted HTTP source exposes more of its data on the network. Use HTTPS when the provider supports it.
