2. Add or transfer a playlist

Choose the right method, import your source, and resolve the most common issues.

01

2.1 Which import method should I choose?

Use the method that exactly matches the information you have.

  • QR code: recommended for entering information from a phone or tablet instead of using the remote control.
  • Xtream: if you have a server address, username, and password.
  • M3U: if you received a complete URL containing the playlist.
  • Cloud Sync: to transfer a configuration from another device on which WAVEO is already installed.
  • Restore: to recover a backup file created by WAVEO. Premium must be active, and an accessible file manager must be installed if the device does not provide one.
  • Remote activation: available only from https://www.waveo.tv/en/account. Use the device ID (MAC address) shown at the bottom right of the import page in WAVEO.
Protect your access details

An M3U URL or Xtream credentials may grant access to your source. Never publish them in a screenshot, forum post, or support request.

02

2.2 What should I check before importing?

  • The TV is connected to the Internet and has enough available storage.
  • The URL includes its http:// or https:// protocol and any required port.
  • The username and password use the exact uppercase letters, lowercase letters, and special characters provided.
  • The access details are still valid and the allowed connection limit has not already been reached.
  • The TV guide's XMLTV URL is ready if it is supplied separately.

03

2.3 How do I import with the QR code?

  1. 01In the add flow, choose QR code.
  2. 02Scan the code displayed on the TV with a phone or tablet.
  3. 03On the page that opens, choose M3U or Xtream, then enter the requested information.
  4. 04Add the XMLTV URL only if your TV guide is supplied separately.
  5. 05Send the information and keep the WAVEO screen open.
The QR code does not respond

Check the Internet connection on both devices. If the code has expired or you left the screen, generate a new one. You can also return to direct M3U or Xtream entry.

04

2.4 How do I add an Xtream source?

  1. 01Choose Xtream credentials.
  2. 02Enter the complete server address, including its protocol and port if required.
  3. 03Enter the supplied username and password exactly.
  4. 04Add the XMLTV URL only if your provider supplies a separate one.
  5. 05Confirm, wait for loading to finish, then give the playlist a recognizable name if WAVEO asks you to.
Credentials rejected

Check for accidental spaces, letter case, protocol, port, expiration date, and the connection limit. A web portal address is not necessarily an Xtream server address.

If the same information is rejected on several devices, contact the source provider.

05

2.5 How do I add an M3U URL?

  1. 01Choose M3U URL.
  2. 02Enter or paste the complete address without removing the parameters at the end.
  3. 03Enter the XMLTV URL if your TV guide is supplied separately.
  4. 04Start the import and allow WAVEO to finish processing.
  5. 05Name the playlist so you can easily distinguish it from the others.

06

2.6 How do I transfer a configuration with Cloud Sync?

Cloud Sync requires active Premium access.

  1. 01On the source device, open Settings > Cloud Sync > Share this device.
  2. 02Choose a playlist and the data categories to transfer, then generate the code.
  3. 03On the destination device, create or activate the profile that will receive the playlist, then choose Cloud Sync import.
  4. 04Enter the code within 10 minutes and confirm the import.
  5. 05Start again with a new code if you need to transfer another playlist.
This transfer is not a complete backup

Cloud Sync transfers a playlist's configuration and its EPG sources. Depending on the options you choose, it can also synchronize favorites, history, and progress.

It does not copy profiles, PINs, preferences, custom groups, manual EPG assignments, recordings, local files, Premium entitlement, or third-party service credentials.

07

2.7 How do I restore a local backup?

  1. 01First create a backup of the current state if you may need to return to it.
  2. 02In the import flow, choose Restore a backup.
  3. 03Select the file with the Android document picker.
  4. 04Allow WAVEO to finish the operation and restart if necessary.
  5. 05Then check the profiles, playlists, and main settings.
Restoring replaces local data

A backup does not merge two configurations. All data currently present will be replaced.

Recording files and Premium access are not restored by the backup file.

08

2.8 How do I use remote activation?

  1. 01Keep WAVEO open on the import page and note the device ID (MAC address) displayed at the bottom right.
  2. 02On a phone or computer, open https://www.waveo.tv/en/account and sign in to your account.
  3. 03Choose remote activation, then enter the MAC address exactly as it appears in WAVEO.
  4. 04Enter or choose the playlist to send, then confirm on the website.
  5. 05Restart the app ten seconds later.

09

2.9 What should I do after importing?

The time required depends on the catalog size, server, and connection. TV guide data may continue to appear after the first categories are shown.

  1. 01Wait for the import to finish without force-stopping WAVEO or disconnecting the network.
  2. 02Check that the playlist is active.
  3. 03Open a category, then test content that you know is available.
  4. 04To add another playlist, open Settings > Playlists & update > Manage playlists > Add a playlist.

10

2.10 I imported my playlist, but something is not working

  • Missing categories: wait for all processing to finish, then start a manual update from Settings > Playlists & update.
  • Channels without programs: update the EPG, check the XMLTV URL, and manually assign unrecognized channels if necessary.
  • Import succeeds but playback fails: test several items, then check the expiration date, connection limit, and source availability.
  • Backup file not visible: place it in a folder accessible to the Android picker, such as Downloads.
  • Import takes a very long time: keep WAVEO in the foreground, free some storage, and avoid running another update at the same time.
